OBRAS (Workin’ Label, 2023) is the title of the latest solo piano composition work, based on the experience of an artistic residency in Portugal. The songs are inspired by places, people and thoughts arising from the period spent in Lusitanian land.

OBRAS is a reflection on the concept of music as a non-self-generated, polygenetic system. The process of composition and improvisation, much like the process of ideation in many other forms of art, is often a digestion of a number of experiences that do not begin in music itself, but are rather borrowed from nature, literature, art and space.

KÓSMOS

KÓSMOS is the name of the trio composed by pianist Stefano Falcone, drummer Giuseppe D’Alessandro and bass player llaria Capalbo. It outlines an idea of music that is eloquent and purpose-driven, originating from the band’s cohesive, strong creative urgency. A fearless attitude to improvisation and extemporary practices together with grounded composition work make up for a bold trio sound that strikes as being equally fresh in approach and rooted in the idioms of jazz tradition and classical European music. The first recorded work of the trio is Back Home, a concept album dedicated and inspired by the life and vision of jazz pianist Lennie Tristano, which includes elaborations and arrangements of some of his tunes as well as original compositions by all band members.
